McLaren has been deploying tidbits of information on his all-new supercar, which will debut in Geneva. Just a few weeks before the show, we finally get some performance.
McLaren still does not have a name for his car (some say 720S), and we do not know what kind of figures his 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V8 will produce. But he announced that his car will launch at 124 mph in just 7.8 seconds. This is as long as it takes a few cars to hit 60.
The traction does not end there. McLaren claims that his new supercar will be able to run a quarter mile in just 10.3 seconds, which is damned fast for a fully stocked sports car. For comparison, it is 0.1 seconds faster than a McLaren 650S and 0.2 second faster than a Porsche 911 Turbo S or Lamborghini Huracan. Yipes.
As he screams his way to his maximum speed, he will literally scream. The latest McLaren teaser also speaks of its exhaust system, which promises to “match the extreme performance of the engine”, so it will likely be strong. The owners can make even more crazy with an optional sports exhaust, as your neighbors will be sure to enjoy the cold mornings.
There is also the engine bay lighting that hits when the car is unlocked, because of course there is.
The latest McLaren sports car, which triggers a complete reinvention of its Super Series, will debut at the Geneva Motor Show on March 7th.
