The current generation of Silverado is not too old by automotive standards with its introduction dating back to 2014. But, the current of this truck is based on the old architecture and compared to the competition (especially the F-150) old. With 2019 Chevrolet Silverado GM will try to get competitive again after losing some of its market share over the past year, while Ford’s pick-up best-seller has increased its control over the segment. The aspects of Silverado that will be improved are weight, fuel consumption and technology.
Two things mentioned above will be updated by changing the structure of 2018 Chevrolet Silverado. The current truck is built only in steel, and despite being one of the lighter vehicles in its class with the addition of aluminum panels on the new model parts, they will lose a little more weight. This will improve energy efficiency.
We are not sure at this time what parts of the new Silverado are going to be made of aluminum but the thing that definitely will not be is the bed of the vehicle. The bed will stay in steel made so that Chevrolet could continue to accumulate misery on the best-selling Ford truck through their advertisements.
Above, we have named some changes on 2019 Chevy Silverado, but a couple of things will remain the same. The platform will be identical (bodywork and separate chassis), the rear axle will also be transported from the current model and the options of the standard RWD (rear wheel) as before. These things are the important part of Silverado, so it’s normal to see them on the new pick-up.
Powertrain options on the new Silverado will consist of two basic engines in the form of a 4.3-liter V6 and a four-cylinder turbocharged unit that will bring GM’s plans to improve the fuel efficiency to fruition. These two mills will be linked to an eight-speed General Motors automatic transmission. The superior powertrain will be in the form of a small GM V-8 block that will be connected to a 10-speed automatic transmission developed by General Motors and Ford.
2019 Chevrolet Silverado will likely start at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show scheduled for next January. Until then, production will start already, so we expect the first units of this new truck to reach the market early in the summer. The price will range from $ 28,500 for entry-level Silverado to $ 60,000 for the first-tier High Country model.
With all these improvements and fair prices new Silverado will be a decent rival to competitors such are 2018 Ford F-150, GMC Sierra 1500, 2017 Nissan Titan, 2019 RAM 1500 and 2018 Toyota Tundra.
GM has upgraded their range of trucks for the 2016 model year, but the fact is that these were released in 2012. While this would normally be well seen their trucks are still very capable, Ford and Ram plan for the bets To massive levels in 2017. That means their vehicles will be left behind, and GM will have to do something about it.
Still unconfirmed at this point, the future 2018 Chevrolet Silverado could be the brand new truck everyone expects. This could be released in late 2018, probably in December, and it should hit the market a few months later.
The new truck should have just about a whole new design. However, the actual details are still unknown. We know with certainty that the coming pickups will all receive a body made entirely of aluminum as well as probably other aluminum parts. This was clarified by GM a while ago, and it should be a step in the right direction. On top of that, their trucks will use a new chassis. This will always be the usual scale frame, but it will now be stiffer and lighter. Most racing gear will also change with the new chassis, but something interesting has come about it.
2018 Chevrolet Silverado : New design and chassis – Rumors
GM could design the new chassis so that it is backward compatible with older parts. This could make the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado a great buy for those who already have a model. Why? Because the chassis would easily allow to swap parts between the two that are usually very important, especially for a battle horse. There is still no word on what GM will do with the aluminum body. Some people even suggested that they worked with Ford in developing the process.
We are not quite sure. Although they have worked together for the 10-speed automatic transmission, the aluminum body is something specific to Ford. We hope that GM will be able to offer the same type of quality aluminum as Ford, even though they might end up with a heavier body.
The current design scheme is quite impressive so that the new model should be kept close to it. While most body will be new, GM will probably use design clues found on current trucks. This will allow people to become familiar with vehicles with greater ease, and it should boost their sales even further. The interior of the Silverado was better than that of its rivals. We hope that the quality and the bold design will be preserved. However, take into account that the space available may be lower than the previous model.
2018 Chevrolet Silverado – Under the hood
Until now GM has used naturally aspirated engines in the Silverado and diesel range in heavy duty models. Well, that will finally change with the next 2018 Chevrolet Silverado. This is not only likely to receive a 3.6-liter V6 dual turbocharger. It could also receive a brand new turbo diesel, probably a V6. The gasoline engine would develop between 350 and 450 horsepower and more than 400 lb-ft of torque. It would replace all current V8 engines, and it should make for a good start for GM.
A naturally aspirated V6 could be offered at a later date, but this is unlikely. The diesel should provide more than 250 horsepower while using with up to 25% less fuel than its gasoline equivalent. All these should make use of GM’s new 10-speed automatic transmission that was first seen on the new Camaro ZL1.
